Full Moon Release Ritual

The full moon illuminates everything that has ripened during the lunar cycle. Use this ritual to honor what is complete, lovingly release what you have outgrown, and reclaim your energy.

Why We Work With the Full Moon

The full moon is a mirror reflecting everything that has grown since the previous new moon. Emotions swell, clarity arrives, and release becomes effortless when we consciously participate. This ritual provides a gentle yet powerful container to let go and return to equilibrium.

Gather Your Tools

  • Fire-safe bowl or cauldron
  • Matches or lighter
  • Paper and pen
  • A cleansing tool (incense, cedar, rosemary, or sound)
  • Moon water or a calming tea
  • Optional: black tourmaline, obsidian, or smoky quartz

Ritual Flow

1. Cleanse & Call the Circle (8 minutes)

Cleanse yourself and your space. Walk clockwise with your chosen tool while stating, “I clear what is complete. Only what nourishes may remain.” Imagine moonlight filling the room.

2. Presence & Gratitude (5 minutes)

Sit comfortably and breathe deeply. Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly. Reflect on what has blossomed over the last two weeks. Speak gratitude aloud or write it down.

3. Name What You Release (12 minutes)

On separate slips of paper, write the habits, fears, or attachments you are ready to release. Be specific yet compassionate. You may write, “I release the belief that I must do everything alone,” or “I release projects that are no longer aligned.”

4. Transform Through Fire (10 minutes)

One by one, read each statement aloud. As you burn the paper in your fire-safe bowl, say, “I release you with love.” Visualize the energy changing form and returning to the Earth for composting.

5. Integrate With Breath (5 minutes)

Hold your crystal (if using) and take slow breaths. Imagine moonlight cleansing your aura, sealing in the new spaciousness. Sip your moon water or tea to ground the ritual in your body.

6. Close the Circle (3 minutes)

Thank the full moon, your guides, or any beings you work with. Trace a circle in the air or ring a bell, symbolically closing the container. Make a note of any insights you want to revisit during the waning moon.

Continue the Practice

Over the next few days, honor your release by resting more, journaling, or decluttering physical spaces. Notice where ease replaces effort. Each time the thought resurfaces, gently remind yourself that it has already been surrendered.
