About the New Moon

The new moon represents new beginnings, fresh starts, and the perfect time for planting seeds of intention. This monthly reset offers us an opportunity to align with our deepest desires and set powerful intentions for the lunar cycle ahead.

What You’ll Need

  • A quiet, sacred space
  • Journal or paper for writing
  • A white or silver candle
  • Crystals (clear quartz, moonstone, or selenite)
  • Sage, palo santo, or your preferred cleansing tool
  • A small bowl of water

The Ritual

1. Prepare Your Space (10 minutes)

Begin by cleansing your space with sage or palo santo. As you move through your ritual area, set the intention to clear any stagnant energy and create a sacred container for your practice.

2. Ground and Center (5 minutes)

Sit comfortably and take several deep breaths. Feel your connection to the earth beneath you and the infinite sky above. Place your hands on your heart and breathe into this space, connecting with your inner wisdom.

3. Light Your Candle (2 minutes)

Light your white or silver candle, representing the pure potential of the new moon. As you light it, speak these words or something similar:

"I call upon the energy of the new moon to support my highest intentions. May this light illuminate the path to my dreams."

4. Reflect and Release (10 minutes)

Before setting new intentions, take time to reflect on the past lunar cycle. What are you ready to release? What patterns no longer serve you? Write these down, then safely burn the paper or dissolve it in water, symbolically letting go.

5. Set Your Intentions (15 minutes)

Now, turn your attention to what you wish to create. Write down 1-3 specific intentions for this lunar cycle. Be clear, positive, and write as if these intentions are already manifesting:

  • "I am attracting abundant opportunities in my career"
  • "I am cultivating deeper, more meaningful relationships"
  • "I am honoring my body with nourishing food and movement"

6. Visualize and Feel (10 minutes)

Close your eyes and visualize your intentions as already manifest. Feel the emotions of having achieved these goals. Let gratitude fill your heart as you embody the energy of your realized dreams.

7. Close the Ritual (5 minutes)

Thank the new moon energy and any guides or higher powers you work with. Extinguish your candle mindfully, knowing that the energy of your intentions will continue to grow even after the flame is gone.

Ongoing Practice

Keep your written intentions somewhere sacred where you can revisit them throughout the lunar cycle. Consider reading them during your daily meditation or journaling practice to maintain alignment with your goals.
